Project Sol Digital is the field implementation of the framework laid out in Education and the Future of Latin America by Alejandro Toledo Manrique — economist, Stanford-trained education scholar, and former president of Peru — published by Lynne Rienner Publishers. The book was born from a childhood in Andean poverty; our program exists to make that childhood's escape route the norm, not the miracle.

Why this fight is personal.

Konstantin Anthony Romanov was born in the Soviet Union and came to the United States as a child refugee. His earliest years were marked by displacement and loss — an adoption he did not choose, poverty in Brooklyn, a childhood divided between New York and Lugansk, Ukraine, and harm at home that no child should ever endure.
He survived it. Many children in his position do not — not because they are weaker, but because survival should never have been the entrance exam. That conviction is the beating heart of Project Sol Digital: that a child's future should be a right secured by institutions, not a lottery won against them.
The bridge to Latin America is personal too. Konstantin's partner in this work, Leonardo Ramirez, is an indigenous Peruvian from the Sauce region who served as personal head chef in the household of President Alejandro Toledo. Through Leonardo, Konstantin encountered the story and scholarship of the president his partner's family served: a boy from an Andean village of sixteen children who walked hours to school and rose, through education alone, to lead his country. One book, one partnership, and one shared conviction became this project.
